Cheapest home heating oil in Northern Ireland according to Consumer Council

Home heating oil prices have dropped to their lowest rate since the end of November last year.

Northern Ireland has the highest rate of home heating oil use in Europe, with 62% of households using it for heat and over 80% of rural properties.




Home heating oil prices can fluctuate depending on the demand for it, with it usually being £50 to £60 cheaper during the summer the months.

The average price for 300L in Northern Ireland is currently £224.95, with 500L costing £354.26 and 900L costing: £625.42, according to figures from the Consumer Council.

This time last year the average price for 300L was £264.53.

The cheapest area to purchase home heating oil is the Derry City and Strabane area where 300L costs £219.64 on average, £5.31 below the NI average, with 500L costing £349.25 and 900L costing £620.51.

The most expensive area to purchase home heating oil is the Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon area where 300L costs £228.29, which is £3.34 above the NI average, 500L costs £357.72 and 900L costs £629.58.
