A body found in the River Mersey has been confirmed to be a missing dad.
Carl Williams was reported missing on Friday, December 29 last year. The 48-year-old was seen leaving his home on Queens Road in Everton at 2.36am and was caught on CCTV in the Otterspool Promenade area hours later, at 4.36am.
Officers received a report the body of a man had been found at around 9.50am on Sunday, February 11 in the River Mersey. Following forensic examinations by Merseyside Police, the man was formally identified as Carl Williams.

Officers are supporting his family at this difficult time. His death is being treated as not suspicious and the case was referred to the coroner’s office.
At the time he went missing, Carl’s family said he was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild and his disappearance as “completely out of character”.
