BBC Bargain Hunt’s Natasha Raskin Sharp announces birth of first child following secret pregnancy

Bargain Hunt and Antiques Road Trip star Natasha Raskin Sharp has announced the birth of her baby.

The 37-year-old antiques expert had kept her pregnancy a secret from fans but gave them a glimpse of her newborn on Instagram on Friday.

Natasha is married to Joe Sharp, a producer on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip and they have not shared the name or sex of their baby.

The couple met back in 2013, before marrying four years later, and now live together in Glasgow.

Natasha happily shared the joyous news on social media, saying: ‘What a way to start the year – the last few days have been nothing short of immense.’

She continued: ‘I’ll be handing over my Thursday night @bbcradioscot duties to the excellent @ravisagoogram for a short spell – thanks, Ravi. Catch him from 10pm on @bbcsounds.

‘In the meantime, there’ll be lots of new #bbcbargainhunt and @antiqueroadtrip action (filmed when baby was a mere bump). Back soon! X’

Scottish presenter Natasha has been one of the lead presenters on Bargain Hunt since 2014 and has also featured on Antiques Road Trip, Flog It!, For What It’s Worth and Baggage Battles.

She was born into a family of art lovers and collectors, with her father the artist Philip Raskin, and her grandfather former TV magician Max Raskin.

Natasha famously helped with the first ever proposal on Bargain Hunt in 2018, which was carefully planned by the antique show’s team.

With the cameras rolling at the grounds of Kedleston Hall country house in Derbyshire, Natasha excitedly teased the proposal, telling viewers that ‘it’s the build-up to that big moment’.

Tony Chambers appeared as a contestant with his girlfriend Alison Cook and began setting up the moment by saying: ‘I think Alison is looking for some jewellery or something like that.’

Presenter Tim Weeks took this as his cue and led the couple over to a cabinet where he pulled out a box with the engagement ring inside.

Tony then dropped to one knee and asked Alison to marry him as she delightedly agreed.

Alison later confessed: ‘I had a game plan but it was absolutely nothing to do with getting engaged on a national TV show.

‘My plan all along was to win Bargain Hunt. I was definitely the winner. I wasn’t quite sure what everyone was playing at during filming, but there was something sneaky going on.

‘I’d been hen-pecking Tony for a while about getting engaged but he kept on telling me he’d do it in his own time.

‘So when he actually popped the question on the show, well, I think my face says it all.’

Last year, Natasha sent Bargain Hunt viewers into a frenzy when she pleaded with them to check their lofts after a £400K ‘teapot’ was found after 50-years in a dusty attic.

The presenter revealed the ‘ultimate Bargain Hunt find’ during an episode in which the antique was revealed to be a ‘rare Chinese wine ewer’.

Auctioneer Charles Hanson described the yellow floral item as ‘very sacred, very important and very rare’.

Going on to say it the ‘ceremonial ewer’ would have used to hold water in the court of Emperor Qianlong in the 18th century.

The porcelain pot was thought to be worth £150 and was brought back from Japan by the owner’s grandfather in the 1940s.

He said: ‘Unbeknown to the owner, it had been in his house, in his loft for over 50 years.’

The expert went on to reveal that the ewer was ‘only one of three known’, with the other two in museums in Taiwan and Beijing.

After the expert slapped it with a £150,000 it went on to rake in a whopping £390,000 at auction.
