Amanda Holden makes feelings clear on daughter Lexi, 18, sharing bikini snaps online amid backlash

Amanda Holden has addressed the backlash surrounding her teenage daughter sharing bikini photos online.

The TV personality made it clear she supports 18-year-old Lexi Hughes, and said she encourages her to post any snaps she likes.

The 53-year-old made headlines herself this week after stripping naked during her Heart Radio show and has defended her daughter following an online backlash.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge commented: “Lexi did speak to me and her dad about this. She is 18 years old now, so I feel like she’s confident and we have always encouraged body positivity in our house.

“I feel like if she’s ready to do that then we’re all for it. She knows what could happen from doing it, but I think she should be able to do what she wants when she wants, and at 18 that’s the correct time to do it.”

Speaking to MailOnline, she continued: “I wouldn’t have encouraged it before, she posted a photo last year in a bikini when she was 17 but again, that’s her choice. We are happy if she is happy.”

Hughes has shared a selection of photos of herself sporting a bikini, with six of her posts showing her posing at the beach or by a swimming pool.

The teen, while still in full-time education, has been signed to Storm modelling agency, which has signed some big names such as Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne.

Holden’s support of her daughter makes sense because the actress enjoys sharing her own bikini-clad snaps on social media.

Earlier this week, she was fiercely defended by fans after stripping naked in the Heart studio to take part in a life-drawing exercise.

Her co-star Jamie Theakston spoke on the airwaves as she posed for the portrait, commenting at one point: “We’re transforming Heart studio into an art studio this morning. It is slightly distracting…

“Amanda’s in the corner of the studio without any clothes on which is a first. Not for her, of course, but… certainly for most of us.”

Those in the studio let out a laugh before Holden asked if she could see the drawings the guest artists had drawn, branding the attempts to capture her image as “not bad”.

Theakston was keen to bring the segment to a close, however, as he remarked: “Amanda, can you put a top on because it is slightly distracting?”

As the station’s social media account posted a blurred image of Holden posing for the drawing, followers soon blasted the mum-of-two, calling her “attention-seeking”.

However, others applauded Holden for taking part, with one joking: “I’d do my weekly shop naked if I looked that good.”
