Acclaimed soap star Esta TerBlanche has tragically passed away at age 51, just weeks after hinting she was pondering a return to television.

The investigation into her unexpected death follows her recent statement anticipating a possible TV comeback, where she mentioned that getting back on the small screen was “definitely something I would like to get back into”.

Esta, famous for her role in the widely-loved US drama All My Children, was found lifeless in her home in Hollywood; reports from TMZ indicate her family is dealing with the sudden loss.

Best known for portraying Gillian Andrassy in a show once dubbed America’s most recorded TV programme, Esta had become a household name. It is suspected by medical officials that she may have passed away a day prior to being discovered. Her passing was confirmed yesterday through her manager Annie Spoliansky, who issued a heartfelt statement to People magazine.

Spoliansky conveyed the profound sadness felt over Esta’s demise, remarking: “We are deeply saddened by this news. As for a personal statement, I’d like to say that Esta was such a kind, loving, giving, and caring person. She cared so deeply for all people and animals.”

She also celebrated Esta’s kind-hearted nature, especially towards animals stating, “She had squirrels she fed and looked after daily, her two cats and recent kittens that she cared for as her own children.” While remembering Esta’s compassionate personality, Spoliansky expressed, “Esta was never anything but generous and lovely to me, and I’m grateful to have known her for the time that I did, and devastated to learn of her passing.”

Further deep condolences were shared by her publicist Lisa Rodrigo, who conveyed her sorrow, stating: “I am heartbroken upon learning about Esta’s death. She was and always will be a beautiful soul who I will miss every day. I am proud to have known her and call her not only a client but a friend.”

Before her untimely passing, the actress who brought a Hungarian princess to life on the soap from 1997 to 2001 had teased the possibility of a screen comeback. Even though her character met an untimely end in All My Children, she made a poignant reappearance as Gillian’s apparition in the show’s last days after the US network ABC declared in 2011 that it would be discontinuing the long-running series after 41 illustrious years.
