Aldi has removed unecessary packaging on beer and cider cans.
This will help all shoppers to cut back on plastic waste.
Plastic packaging that holds cans together has been removed from Aldi’s own label four pack beers and ciders.
Instead of plastic shrink wrap and rings, cans will be held together with cardboard alternatives.

The cardboard is much more recyclable as it can be easily disposed of at home.
The packaging change will help to remove a whopping 95 tonnes of plastic each year.
This is just one of many changes the retailer has made to reduce its environmental impact.
Plastics and packaging director at Aldi Luke Emery said: “Minimising plastic waste is important to both Aldi and our customers, and we are always looking for ways to adapt our packaging.
“Moving our beer and cider to card packaging is another step in our fight against unwanted plastic.”
Shoppers in all stores will notice the new packaging changes.
Aldi has already made changes to make products more environmentally friendly.
It recently lauched a new recycling scheme for blister packs.

The trial meant Britons can return hard to recycle medicine packaging.

The packaging will be repurposed into materials such as nuts and bolts, plastic waste bins or outdoor furniture.
