A woman lost a staggering three stone with the help of a diet plan change.
She managed to lose weight and put her diabetes into remission.
Jan Huckin, 74, from Hungerford, signed up for The Fast 800 plan in 2019.
This combines healthy eating and the time-restricted eating plan, intermittent fasting.

Jan said: “I first joined The Fast 800 in 2019 after reading that rapid weight loss could put my type 2 diabetes into remission.
“The disease ran in my family – my mother had it, her brother had it and in the end, my mother died due to complications with her kidneys from her diabetes.
“My mother looked after herself really well and she was very healthy, so it really made me take a look at my own health and how I could take control.”
Weighing in at 14 stone, Jan started the diet plan – created by Dr Michael Mosley – to see if she could improve her health and slim down, and she saw impressive results.
She continued: “Around halfway through the 12 weeks, I went back for a check-up and after a blood test the GP said ‘Oh, you no longer have type 2 diabetes!’ We were both quite shocked, as I’d only been following the programme for around six to seven weeks by that point.
“I’d lost weight and I knew I was in better health. We have a beautiful common where I live and so I was walking there regularly. I had a lot more energy than usual and I found myself getting fitter and fitter.”
Sadly, her progress was halted in March 2020 when she was diagnosed with arthritis in both knees and she saw the weight creep back on.
By June 2022, she had had both knees replaced and decided to sign up for the plan again.
Jan explained: “By April 2023, by sticking to the programme, I lost three stone again and I have remained that weight ever since.”
The 74-year-old explained she was also inspired to take up swimming.
She said: “[My granddaughter and I] went weekly and I gradually progressed and it got easier and easier. I felt wonderful! I also started swimming at the local pool.
“Before, I would never have been seen in public in a swimsuit but I found that my confidence was growing. Swimming has made such an improvement to the strength of my legs. I can do lengths and lengths now without feeling breathless. I feel so much fitter and stronger.
“I also walk my daughter’s family dog every day now and I love that.”

The slimmer has stayed motivated to stick to the plan after losing weight and improving her overall health.
She added: “I follow Time Restricted Eating now, plus I use the 4:3 approach.
“My favourite recipe from The Fast 800 Programme is the Rainbow Stir Fry, which is delicious and I surprised myself by loving the tofu recipes too.
“I also love the Vegetarian Chilli but it’s great that there are new recipes added all of the time. It makes it so easy to stick to it long-term.”
