The M57 is closed in one direction as lorry crashes into trees.

Merseyside Police were called to the motorway’s northbound carriageway at junction 4, following reports of a crash. Once officers arrived at the scene they found a lorry had crashed into some trees.




Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service as well as the North West Ambulance Service are at the scene. The motorway has been closed in one direction while emergency services respond to the incident.

Merseyside Police have said they believe the driver of the lorry is still inside the vehicle.

Lorry crashes into trees on M57

Lorry driver “conscious and breathing”

A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendence at the incident and said when they arrived at the scene the lorry was “upright and on all four wheels”.

The confirmed the driver was conscious and breathing and had a precautionary check from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said

At around 4.30pm this afternoon (Thursday 28 December) we received a report of a collision on junction 4 of the M57 involving a lorry that collided into some trees.

The driver of the lorry is believed to be inside the vehicle. Junctions 2 and 3 have been closed whilst emergency services remain on the motorway and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
