Dramatic surveillance footage captured the horrifying moment a man was shot and killed after he joined his daughter on a trick-or-treating outing in Colombia on Tuesday night.
Yeferson González, 29, can be seen crossing the street with his three-year-old child after they had collected candy from a barbershop as the gunman followed him closely.
The assailant then approached him from behind and shot him in the head.
González crashed to the street pavement and was shot a second time in the chest as Halloween trick-or-treaters nearby stood and watched.
The suspect took off running and escaped on a motorcycle.
The child looked on in horror as González was lying on the ground before a his wife ran over and rushed her away.
González was found with vital signs and was rushed to a Mario Yanguaz Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
A Soacha police spokesperson said a special unit was formed to investigate the murder.
Investigators interviewed González’s wife on Tuesday. No arrests had been reported as of Wednesday.
González has prior military experience and had worked for a shipping company.
‘He worked with us from September to November 2022, and that was his last movement with the company. We are impacted by the news,’ a company spokesman told El Tiempo newspaper.
Crime stats show that homicides have been on the decline in Soacha in 2023.
The city have registered 5.3 murders per 100,000 inhabitants this year in comparison with 2022 when 17.9 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants were reported.
