Barcelona manager Xavi felt his team played well despite losing 4-2 at home to Girona in La Liga on Sunday.
The result means the defending champions are now seven points adrift of Girona, who lead the way in La Liga, and are now down in fourth place.
Xavi felt it was a fairly even game but blamed the loss on problems in both attack and defence.
“I think the match was even, it is decided by details. We lacked effectiveness. We played well in the game,” he said after the match.
“We shot 30 times, we could have equalized at 3-3 but no. Girona’s plan was very courageous and they were more efficient.
“Girona have a lot of advantages, they are seven points ahead of us, and the work of Michel and his players is amazing. The match was equal. If Barcelona won, we would say it was fair. We had little effectiveness and mistakes in defense affected us.”
Barcelona certainly created plenty of chances in the game. In particular, Robert Lewandowski wasted a good chance to equalise late on before Cristhian Stuani finished off the hosts.
