WATCH: Joyce Pring speaks up on ‘what healing is not’

TV host and vlogger Joyce Pring shared some of her thoughts about healing when she spoke before abused women recently. This she did by bringing to their attention what healing is actually not.

“Over the weekend I was invited to speak at Sagip Babae Foundation’s launch — their movement is focused on healing for women who’ve experienced abuse and trauma and I was tasked to give a short message on what it means to HEAL. Since so many have already spoken on what healing IS, I wanted to share what I thought healing is NOT,” she said.

For her, healing is not instantaneous as “healing doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a long process that could take years — and in some cases, we won’t ever feel FULLY healed, but we need to choose peace, instead of wait for it to come.”

She also believes that “healing is not linear.”

“It’s not one simple straight journey towards ‘I’m better.’ There are days that will feel like you’ve completely healed, then the next day you’ll feel like you’re back to square one. And that’s okay,” she explained.

Pring also believes that no man is an island, thus, “healing is not achieved alone.”

“As much as we’d like to sometimes act like we don’t need anyone to heal — our personal relationships are actually some of the most pivotal aspects of our healing journey,” she said. “We cannot do it alone.” JB
