Tributes paid to ‘one in a million’ great grandmother who died after crash

Tributes have been paid to an “amazing” great grandmother who has died after a crash on the weekend. Officers investigating a serious road traffic collision near Corwen on Sunday sadly confirmed that an 89-year-old woman has died.

Shortly before 4pm, North Wales Police were called following a report of a road traffic collision on the A5104 at Bryn Eglwys near Corwen. The collision involved three vehicles – a grey Peugeot 107, a silver Peugeot 206 and a black Jaguar X-type.

The emergency services attended, including the Air Ambulance, and the driver of the Peugeot 107 was airlifted to hospital in Stoke. Sadly, it was confirmed that she had died from her injuries on Monday afternoon.

She has been named as Jean Kitchen who was local to the Bryn Eglwys area. Her family have issued the following tribute.

They said: “It’s hard to keep Jean Kitchen’s life and stories within a short paragraph as you could so easily write a book. She was born in Oldham in 1934. She took on the career of Nurse / Midwife and Health Visitor in her 40’s, it was something she absolutely loved and she was immensely passionate about helping others throughout her whole life.

“I think, however she’d admit, the greatest achievement of her life was marrying the love of her life Jim Kitchen, who sadly passed away in 2015. Their long life together was filled to the brim with adventures all around the world – they loved to travel and left their mark wherever they went. Jean was the most amazing mum, grandma, great grandma, aunt and friend that anyone could ask for and she will leave a great void, that can never be filled.

“Everyone that had met Jean had a story to tell about her, which just shows how larger than life she really was. We’ll hold all the memories in our hearts wherever we go. She was one in a million, and we were so very lucky to have her. She will be missed so greatly, by so many.”
