Julian Alvarez’s future analysed as Man City exit mooted

The summer transfer window opened on Friday and Premier League clubs aren’t wasting time in an attempt to get business done early.

Manchester United submitted their first bid for top target Jarrad Branthwaite within hours of the window officially opening, but with Everton set to reject their total package worth £43million, United would be willing to walk away from negotiations – despite agreeing personal terms with his representatives.

Arsenal are also targeting an Everton player and have been quoted at least £50million for highly-rated midfielder Amadou Onana. The Gunners are hoping to drum up funds by selling a number of stars this summer, with Reiss Nelson reported to have handed in a transfer request amid interest from Fulham, West Ham, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.

The winger could be replaced by Michael Olise but Chelsea have made the first move to sign the in-demand Palace star, Mirror Football understands. Elsewhere, Liverpool are hoping to make a splash in their first summer under new manager Arne Slot and have RB Leipzig playmaker Dani Olmo on their radar.

Bayern Munich decide Davies’ immediate future

Bayern Munich will NOT sell left-back Alphonso this summer and instead allow him to enter the final year of his contract.

Sky Germany report that talks over a new deal have reached a critical juncture, with Bayern unwilling to offer the 23-year-old improved terms after an underwhelming season.

Canada international Davies has long been touted for a move to Real Madrid, although AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez has been increasingly linked in recent weeks.

Olmo addresses Liverpool links

RB Leipzig midfielder Dani Olmo has left the door open for a move to Liverpool, admitting that it’s ‘nice’ to be linked with the Reds.

Olmo, 26, is currently at Euro 2024 with Spain, who hammered Croatia 3-0 yesterday in their opening game.

The playmaker came on as a second-half substitute and has been discussing his future, telling Mundo Deportivo: “I am calm and focused on what is coming, which is the Euro, which is no small thing.

“It is clear that it is good to see your name related to great teams in Europe and the world, that motivates me, but I am focused on the Euro and I hope we can return with the trophy. Then we’ll see.

“It’s nice to see your name related to the greats, but I insist, it’s nothing that bothers me. I am focused on the field and then whatever has to be, will be.”

Man Utd threaten to end Branthwaite pursuit

Manchester United will threaten to walk away from a deal for Jarrad Branthwaite after Everton rejected their opening bid worth £43million including add-ons.

United’s proposal was worth an initial £35m plus £8m in ‘easily-achievable’ add-ons.

While they are poised to return to the table with an improved offer, they have no intention of matching Everton’s sky-high £70m asking price and will inform the Toffees of their willingness to move onto alternative targets if an agreement cannot be struck on what they consider to be realistic terms.
