Tottenham are set to complete their £25million swoop for Genoa centre back Radu Dragusin.
Out of favour right back Djed Spence, who was sent back from his season-long loan spell at Leeds, is expected to head in the opposite direction.
The deal for Dragusin was in doubt on Tuesday night when Bayern Munich tabled a late formal offer for the Romanian.
But the defender has opted to join Spurs, a move that has seen Bayern revive their interest in Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who is open to moving to Germany this month.
Dier, who has six months left on his deal, will cost around £3m.
Dragusin has emerged as one of Spurs’ top January targets and the club have now made an official bid for the centre-back.
It comes after Ben Davies suffered a hamstring injury in Tottenham’s victory against Burnley on January 5, heightening the north London side’s need for a new central defender.
Bayern Munich, meanwhile, had stepped in to make a late move for the Romanian and had tabled a straight cash offer.
But Tottenham had been increasingly confident of landing the 21-year-old.
Spence, who was abruptly retuned by Leeds last week despite having the full-back on loan until the end of the season, could now move in the opposite direction.
He joined Tottenham for £20m in the summer of 2022 from Middlesbrough, signing a five-year deal with the club.
Following his arrival, he would go out on loan to Rennes before moving to Leeds last summer where the defender made seven appearances in the Championship after a knee injury had ruled him out of action for a large part of the season.
Mail Sport revealed on Friday that Spurs would immediately put Spence up for transfer following his return amid attitude issues.
And the former England Under 21 star is now set to leave Tottenham once more.
The 20-year-old midfielder has risen through the Spurs academy and is considered one of their brightest emerging stars.
Craig made his debut for the senior side at the end of the 2022-23 season, coming on as a late substitute during Tottenham’s 4-1 Premier League victory against Leeds.
