Tottenham are back in Premier League action against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Thursday night and Ange Postecoglou has made two changes to his team.
Spurs are looking to make it four wins in a row after beating Everton, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle. They will have to so without vice-captain and centre-back Cristian Romero, who is out for the next four to five weeks after coming off at half-time at the weekend with a tight hamstring that scans showed had been strained.
Emerson Royal played well defensively at left-back against Everton and comes in at centre-back, where he has already played twice this season, with Destiny Udogie back from suspension on the left. It is the third time this season that Spurs have started a match with a defence entirely comprised of full-backs.
In midfield Oliver Skipp misses out entirely with a knock but should be fit to face Bournemouth. That means Postecoglou has nine first team players unavailable to him for the match.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg comes into the number six role. Giovani Lo Celso also came off the bench for a positive cameo against the Toffees and he is among a very youthful bench.
Here’s the Tottenham team Postecoglou has selected to face Roberto De Zerbi’s men:
Vicario; Porro, Romero, Davies, Udogie; Sarr, Hojbjerg, Kulusevski; Johnson, Richarlison, Son. Subs: Forster, Phillips, Dier, Dorrington, Santiago, Lo Celso, Gil, Donley, Veliz.
