Thiago Silva’s wife appeared to call for Mauricio Pochettino to be sacked as Chelsea suffered a 4-2 defeat against Wolves.
After a disappointing start to the campaign, the Blues entered Sunday’s tie having gathered some momentum with three wins in their last four league games.
Cole Palmer continued his excellent start to life in West London by firing the hosts in front on 19 minutes, but the tide quickly turned and Wolves seized control of the game with a Matheus Cunha hat-trick and an Axel Disasi own-goal.
Silva headed a late consolation to reduce the deficit but the damage was done and the Blues fell to their tenth Premier League defeat of the season.
Before the final whistle had even been blown, Belle Silva took to social media to call for an upheaval at her husband’s club.
‘It’s time to change.’ She wrote in a post on X. ‘If you wait any longer it will be too late.’
Despite Chelsea’s recent struggles, Pochettino claimed earlier this week that his side would eventually come good, citing Liverpool’s mixed form during Jurgen Klopp’s early tenure as an example.
‘In the third year of Liverpool, they came to Wembley. We were at Tottenham and beat them 4-1.’ Pochettino said.
‘Nobody said, “Oh, it is the end of the world for Liverpool”. After that, look what happened for them: they won the Premier League, they won the Champions League. In the year four, it started to work.’
Silva’s tweet marks just the latest example of her using her social media to outspokenly express her feelings regarding the state of her husband’s club.
In January last year as the club fell to a 1-0 defeat against Manchester City, Silva expressed her disapproval at boos ringing out around Stamford Bridge.
She uploaded a video of herself on social media with the caption: ‘Don’t come to Stamford Bridge if you’re not singing COME ON CHELSEA !!! #blueisthecolour @ChelseaFC @tsilva3’.
Meanwhile, during Thomas Tuchel’s time in charge she questioned why her husband was not featured in marketing materials around the club’s ground.
‘Today I went to Stamford Bridge, and I noticed that the photos changed around the stadium. But I don’t see a photo of @tsilva3 anywhere. Why @ChelseaFC?’
Thiago Silva’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, though the 39-year-old revealed last month that he doesn’t know when he will hang up his boots.
‘We know it’s almost over, but it’s not the end yet.’ He said. ‘So pick the right time. I’m still able to maintain a good performance, my numbers are good, and this gives me peace of mind to continue. Now, the future belongs to God.
‘Let’s finish well here, these four months and see what happens going forward, but I’m super relaxed about that.’
