The Weakest Link viewers were left ‘howling’ at a hilarious wrong answer to a question about a sporting legend on Saturday night.
Comedian Romesh Ranganathan returned to host a ‘radio special’ episode of the BBC One quiz show – but fans were in for a much more amusing show than they had bargained for.
The special episode featured the likes of BBC Radio 1 host Vicky Hawkesworth, Fi Glover, Rick Edwards, Snoochie Shy and Owain Wyn Evans.
And when it was Vicky’s turn to answer a question, she accidentally made a hilarious mix-up in a mistake that has now gone viral online.
Romesh asked: ‘In sport the US-born tennis player who in the 1990s won all four Grand Slams and an Olympic gold medal is Andre who?’
Under the pressure, Vicky responded: ‘The giant’ – accidentally referring to the 7ft4 wrestling giant instead of Grand Slam champion Andre Agassi.
Former number one player Andre, now 53, is considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time.
Meanwhile Andre The Giant – real name André René Roussimoff – died in 1993. His giant-like height was due to an excess of growth hormones.
Rick Edwards – who was due to answer the next question – burst out laughing while a red-faced Vicky looked sheepish.
TV watchers back home were also left in fits of laughter.
One viewer said: ‘Just saw this and spat my tea out,’ while a second said: ‘I’m howling at this!’
Another commented: ‘Hahaha I just watched this incredible answer. Imagine Andre the giant on centre court.’
Luckily Vicky showed her sense of humour after the video racked up over 16,000 likes on X, formerly known as Twitter.
She joked on social media after the show was broadcast: ‘Well I knew it couldn’t be Peter Andre so this was the next best guess!’
She added: ‘How do we know he didn’t play tennis in his spare time?!’ and ‘Would have really spiced up Wimbledon if he was a tennis player.’
