The Traitors’ winner Harry Clark has come under backlash from fans after declaring he has ‘never needed’ the £95,150 cash pot.
The British Army Corporal, 23, took home the eye-watering sum in Friday night’s nail-biting final, with Faithful Mollie Pierce, 21, storming out of the room in tears following his betrayal.
The champion, who declared he was the ‘best Traitor ever’ has sparked fury from fans for saying he never needed the money after ‘acting like he couldn’t afford a Toby Carvery with the family’.
In the spin-off show Uncloaked, Harry, who boasts of his lavish lifestyle on Instagram with private jets and designer clothes, said: ‘I’m 23-years-old with that much money! I can’t even explain it. Money never makes me happy.
‘I’ve never needed money. As long as I have a roof over my head, food, water, my family and my other half, that’s all I need.
‘That money is going to treat them, everything my mum and dad have done for me as kids, and they’ve given me everything I’ve needed, to be able to give them something in return is the best thing ever.’
On the show, Harry told the other contestants he really would like to win the money to be able to take his family out and be able to pick up the bill at the end without worry.
And while the sentiment was there, fans questioned why the traitor is trying to appear working class when he flaunts his lavish lifestyle on Instagram.
Sitting at the dining table, suited and booted, looking dapper as ever, Harry told the team: ‘My happiness comes from seeing my family happy, like my brothers and sisters.’
‘Mine is like a mad house because there are 11 or 12 of us. So when we go out for a family meal, it’s not just us going out. You will hear us going out.
‘But it would be the best thing to go home and that Saturday be like ”let’s all go out, but at the end, no one has got to worry about paying. Just being able to go up and pay the bill firstly would be amazing, and then it just sets me up for my next chapter in life.
‘I’m not saying I’m looking at getting out the army but I am sort of tired of travelling all the time.’
Harry worked full-time as an engineer in the British Army before joining the show.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one viewer penned: ‘Why does Harry even need this money when he flies around in private jets? It’s p*****g me off.
‘Not Harry saying: ‘I never needed the money’ and the rest listening like’.
‘Harry’s lack of sob story is so funny bro just said he’s never needed the money.’
‘Hang on Hazza you had me believing you couldn’t afford a Toby Carvery with the family in tonight’s episode…’
‘How many meals out does Harry want to go on?’
After the final, Jaz, Mollie and Harry appeared on BBC Breakfast on Saturday.
Mollie said they were ‘all good’ but fans of the show weren’t convinced, as some thought she was still reeling from Harry’s shock betrayal.
Eagle-eyed social media users have noticed that the pair aren’t following each other on Instagram, meaning they aren’t convinced they have reconciled.
When asked if they ‘were all still friends’ on BBC Breakfast, Mollie said: ‘Harry promised me a holiday, so I’m pretty happy with that.
‘We are fine I mean it was a game at the end of the day. We all signed up for it and we went in there with a chance of getting hurt so, it’s all good vibes here.’
Mollie stayed loyal to her friendship with Harry during the final, changing the name on her chalkboard at the last minute from Harry, to Jaz only to find out the heartbreaking truth that he was a traitor.
Despite confirming on The Traitors: Uncloaked that her and Harry are ‘still best friends’ the disability model was absent from a recent celebratory pub trip.
Once again fans of the show thought they had ‘spotted a clue’ that the duo were on bad terms when Mollie appeared to not look at Harry once on Uncloaked.
One person shared on Twitter / X: ‘Clocked that Mollie doesn’t even follow Harry on instagram. The girl is bitter that a player she trusted lied to her in a game all about lies and deceit.’
While watching Uncloaked, some else added: ‘I don’t think the others (particularly the finalists) like Harry. They’re not interacting with him or laughing with him.’
They continued: ‘Cuts to the others while he’s speaking and they aren’t warm or smiling or anything. Mollie especially #TheTraitorsUncloaked.’
A third noticed: ‘Yeesh Mollie and harry don’t even follow each other on instagram. Can’t decide whether I’d be pals with him after that or not either.’
In the final episode host Claudia Winkleman congratulated Harry on his spectacular victory as she announced: ‘Harry you did it, you’ve played the game of your life, you’ve played an extraordinary game…£95,150! At 22 years old you have beaten everybody, you are our winner!’
Overwhelmed Harry said: ‘My legs are shaking, oh my, oh my God! I just won £95,000! She’s like crying and stuff.
‘Mollie basically is the reason I am here, I need to gain her trust back, I don’t know if that will be possible, but I am going to try my hardest I promise you that.
‘My family know I am a good guy, to everyone else, if you don’t think I am a good guy – I promise you I am.’
