Ubisoft has now confirmed The Crew server closure for all platforms.
In a post on Ubisoft’s website, the publisher said, “The Crew 1, including all its editions and virtual currency packs, will be delisted from all online stores. The game will remain playable until March 31, 2024, for all The Crew 1 owners.
“After this date, the servers will be shut down, which means that the game will not be accessible anymore on any platform, including PC / Xbox 360 / Xbox One / PlayStation 4 / Amazon Luna and Ubisoft+.”
Original Story:
Out of nowhere, Ubisoft has suddenly delisted both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of The Crew from the Xbox store, and it looks like servers for the open-world racing game could also be shut down on March 31, 2024.
A post from Ubisoft on the game’s Steam page reads, “All editions and additional content for The Crew are no longer available for purchase.
“The game will remain playable until March 31, 2024, for all The Crew owners. After this date, the game servers will shut down, which means the game will not be accessible anymore.”
Although this message has only appeared on The Crew’s Steam page, considering Ubisoft has already delisted The Crew from all digital storefronts, it’s probably a safe bet that the server closure is planned for all platforms, though bear in mind that this has yet to be confirmed by the publisher. If and when Ubisoft confirms the server closure for Xbox, we’ll be sure to update you.
If the server closure is planned for Xbox, as The Crew is an online-only game, all of The Crew achievements will be discontinued once the server closure hits. This also applies to the achievements in the Xbox 360 version of the game.
If you are thinking of trying to nab a few more achievements from The Crew and don’t already own it or want to buy it physically, the Xbox One version of The Crew is still currently playable with Ubisoft+. Unfortunately, for those who are yet to start the game, there does appear to be two partly discontinued and unobtainable achievements that will likely stop you from grabbing the full 1,000G.
As for the Xbox 360 version of The Crew, it’s not backwards compatible, so you will need an Xbox 360 to play this one.
In other server shutdown news, there are four Xbox server closures planned for January 2024.
