The first scene of Stranger Things season five has been revealed.
The show’s writer’s room account on X, formerly known as Twitter, has a long tradition of releasing teasers for fans over the years, and on Monday it gave a new update.
After announcing in September that the writers had begun working on the final season of the Netflix show, the first moments of the opening scene have now been revealed.
Page one of the script reads: ‘DARKNESS. The sound of COLD WIND. GROANING TREES. And… A CHILD’S VOICE. Singing a familiar song:’
The photo is captioned: ‘Season 5. Chapter 1. Scene 1.’
Fans went wild for the teaser, with one replying to the post: ‘You teasing us with crumbs… please more!’
Other speculated as to what the ‘familiar song’ could be with many concluding that it could be a throwback to a key scene from way back in season one.
‘SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO NOWWW ARE WE GETTING A THROWBACK TO S1 WILL SINGING IN THE UPSIDE DOWN,’ asked one fan.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates after filming for the final season was delayed due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.
Last week the show’s director and executive producer Shawn Levy insisted he isn’t worried about the cast aging for the show’s fifth season.
Opening up to Variety, the director acknowledged the aging concerns, saying, ‘We’ve already watched the cast of our show grow up in the public eye, and between 12 and 22, every human being changes profoundly.’
But he has a solution.
He conveyed his confidence in his hair and makeup and wardrobe department for Stranger Things to mask the cast’s obvious aging, saying that the team was ‘pretty exceptional,’ at ‘using costumes and wigs and makeup.’
He also addressed the obvious added stressor of the passage of time given the SAG-AFTRA strike noting that the extra delay was ‘not helping.’
However, Shawn made sure to note that filming shouldn’t resume until ‘a fair and equitable deal [is] made.’
The interview was released following fan outrage last month when a Stranger Things fan insider account released a fan art poster with the caption ‘The end is coming. 2025.’
However, Netflix has yet to actually confirm a release date for the highly anticipated fifth season.
That didn’t stop fans from poking fun at the potential two-year wait.
One cheekily wrote in the comments section under the fan poster that ‘Of course the end is coming. The entire cast will be dying of old age by the time you get to release this .’
However, the Canadian director and filmmaker continued to display a sense of ease over the aging issue when speaking to Variety, adding ‘The 80s are also our friends in returning these young adult actors to their iconic Hawkins characters.’
‘We’re going to use all the all the tools available to us,’ Shawn added with confidence.
Although Stranger Things season five hasn’t resumed filming as of writing, the 21 Laps Entertainment founder stated ‘I know our cast is as eager to get back to work as the rest of us.’
