Stoke had to dig in with 10 men but fight for a point without letting Ipswich have a clear chance.

Stoke fans: “You’re not fit to referee.”

It’s an interesting debate. If Thompson did ask for a booking, he’s stupid too. But it wasn’t very well managed and poor consistency from a bad crop of referees.

Bramall found an extra 50 seconds from somewhere but Stoke see it out.

Baker was wiped out by a late tackle after making a clearance but Bramall was watching the ball and shrugs his shoulders.

Super play from Hoever down the left and it’s a lovely cross dropping at Dwight Gayle’s feet. Gayle can’t read it, can’t get a touch and stumbles as it bounces past him. That was a big chance.

Stoke down to nine men because Vidigal was fouled but Bramall plays on to let Ipswich attack. Then he ignores another Ipswich foul. He’s lost the plot. He’s supposed to be a Premier League ref.

What a bad piece of refereeing. It is such a big decision to send someone off and it looked like Bramall was handing out Christmas cards.

The replays show it was extremely tight and the linesman was too keen to flag. Burger had the beating of Tuanzebe initially although Tuanzebe then stopped when the whistle went.

Ipswich breathe again but Baker then sends another tempter over from the left before they can really clear.

Stoke fans aree furious at ref Bramall. Ipswich take a quick free-kick before Stoke are set but screw it up, Burger pounces and takes control… but then the whistle goes because the Ipswich player who was fouled was still grounded.

“You don’t know what you’re doing,” the home fans tell the ref.

Good strength and pace from McNally to hold off Jackson as Ipswich counter.

But that bit of play was all about the expert control and quick feet of Bae Junho, who has moved to the right wing while Vidigal goes left. Junho pretty much scooped the ball to himself to get around his man on the half-way line… before a quick one-two with Burger gave the ball away.

A metaphor for the game really, some flashes but we’re still waiting for the main course.

A couple of times Stoke have got the ball back in great positions but not had that Nick Powell-knowhow of how to make it count. Tchamadeu robs it high up but then Vidigal can’t control to cross.

Hladky is getting some pantomime treatment whenever the ball goes near him.

The Stoke crowd loves that. Ipswich keepeer Hladky poses with the ball as if he’s Ederson, looking to keep possession – and he then spoons it straight out.

It’s cat and mouse in that final third and Ipswich look dangerous if they can get it through. They break and it’s a skittling 25-yard shot from Conor Chaplin, saved by Bonham.

Vidigal nicks the ball from Luongo on the edge of the Ipswich box following a throw by Tuanzebe and Mmaee pounces to leather a volley on target. Well saved and a couple more corners in succession for Stoke.

The corners are played short again and the second is from Thompson to Burger and on to Baker, rolled back kindly about 25 yard out. Baker runs onto the ball and hits it towards Trentham Gardens.

Match being played at a fair lick between both boxes.

Junho earns another corner as he tries running at Tuanzebe. It’s played short by Baker to Thompson and he gets it back before crossing straight to the keeper.

A poor short pass from Baker to Thompson puts Stoke under pressure and Tchamadeu ultimately has to hold off a challenge from Harry Clarke at the back post from a threatening right wing cross.

That was booking number seven for Jordan Thompson in the Championship. Three more earns a two-game ban.
