Steam Deck SteamOS 3.5.15 Preview brings a HDR improvement, GPU crash improvements

Valve released a new version of SteamOS in Preview for Steam Deck, along with a Steam Client Beta for Steam Deck and Desktop Steam also being released. So here’s what you need to know.

For SteamOS 3.5.15 that’s in Preview the changes are:

  • Improved gamut mapping for HDR titles on Deck OLED.
  • Improved handling of GPU crashes.

You’ll need to opt into the Preview update channel to try it: Settings > System > System Update Channel.

For the Steam Deck Client Beta here’s the changes:

  • Fixed game news sometimes appearing out of order in game details activity feed.
  • Removed duplicate friend counter on game capsules
  • Added a privacy icon to your own in-game status at the top of the friends list if you are in a private game to indicate the status is shown only to you.

And then finally the Desktop Steam Beta changes:

  • Fixed game news sometimes appearing out of order in game details activity feed.
  • Removed duplicate friend counter on game capsules.
  • Fixed bug which would sometimes cause steam to show UI and take focus if configured to run at system startup.
  • Fixed bug which would sometimes cause Update News window to take focus from other Steam windows.
  • Added a privacy icon to your own in-game status at the top of the friends list if you are in a private game to indicate the status is shown only to you.
  • Fixed a crash when launching a VR game while using SteamVR v1.27.5.
