Snoop Dogg has many titles; rapper, actor, and entrepreneur, to name a few, but the one he loves most of all is grandfather.
The 52-year-old, whose daughter Cori, 24, has been released from the hospital following a ‘severe stroke,’ opened up about his grandchildren when he appeared on the Jennifer Hudson Show to promote his new film.
‘Now, OK, I was trying to imagine Snoop as a granddad. So how many grandkids do you actually have?’ the host asked.
‘Actually, I have a total of 12 grandkids,’ he answered. ’12?’ the Oscar winner repeated.
‘Yes, yes I do. And they’re different ages, ranges, sizes and I love them all the same way.’
‘Actually, my oldest grandson, his birthday is today so I’m on my way to his birthday party when I leave here.’ he told the audience.
‘He’s going to be 9 years old, that’s Zion Broadus,’ Snoop explained.
Jennifer asked the My Family artist what his grandkids called him.
The Doggyland star explained that Zion was the first to come up with a title.
‘He used to call me Papa Noop, because he couldn’t say Snoop, so he started calling me Papa Noop. And then as time went by, he learned how to say Snoop, so now I’m Papa Snoop.’
In an interview with People in June 2023, the Kush rapper spoke about what the endearment meant to him.
‘Papa!’ That s*** means the world to me for them to call me that because I had a papa,’ he explained.
‘My grandpa was my best friend and for me to be that for my grandkids is showing that I actually did well and I was able to outlive the circumstances.’
‘Now I can look back — I can teach those who want to get to this level. Or at least give them a blueprint and help them avoid some of the traps I that had to deal with.’
The multi-hyphenate has also been celebrating the success of his latest project, The Underdoggs. He stars as a washed up football player sentenced to coach a pee-wee team for community service.
The comedy co-starring Mike Epps and a bunch of adorable young actors is now streaming on Prime Friday.
‘Sit back and watch and hopefully have as good a time as we did making it!!!!’ he advised his fans on social media.
