As a technology writer, I’m constantly looking for the flashiest Apple, Samsung and Google devices, scouring events for the newest AI-powered smartphone, the snappiest laptop or the fastest chip. However, outside of my job, I like to think I’m a savvy shopper, always on the hunt for a bargain to save the pennies.
The money-saving side in me spotted a too-good-to-beat Amazon deal, one so cheap in fact I’ve ditched the prospects of upgrading to a swanky Samsung or Apple tablet for a much cheaper device. And it costs less than £100.
The Lenovo Tab M10 is now £99 in an early Amazon Prime Day deal and if you’re like me looking for a basic performing tablet to watch your favourite Disney+ series, scroll on social or do admin this could be a good fit. And while a lot of budget-friendly tech deals date back to older devices, this 10-inch model is only two years old.

Yes, Apple’s brand new 2024 iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S9 range are certainly tempting, but at a starting price of more than £799 the two flagship devices won’t be in everyones price range – no matter how high end the features. Devices like the Google Pixel 11 tablet are a mid-range option which can be picked up anywhere from £399.
Fitted with Android 11 software the affordable Lenovo Tab M10 isn’t as ‘old’ as shoppers may think when it comes to its runnings, which is only two launches behind the Android 13 seen on the likes of new Google Pixel tablets. Another feature that may sway shoppers to buy is its 32GB of internal storage, a size which I personally don’t think is too small considering the wallet-friendly price.
The model also comes with Wi-Fi 5 and 3GB of RAM, a size which is reflected by the under £100 price tag. Another difference in quality (hence the price) comes with the device’s screen. Rather than a glossy, high-resolution and ultra-high definition display the Lenovo has a 10-inch FHD.
Size wise this is pretty decent and you’ll be able to stream your favourite shows and films comfortable but the Full High Definition is a step down from market leaders like Apple’s iPad and Samsung Tab S9 (but to be honest, what can you expect for £99).
If you’re looking for an affordable tablet it’s one I’d certainly recommend as a tech writer, and it’s safe to say plenty of recent shoppers would agree. “Better than my Previous Samsung” explained one happy Amazon shopper as they praised the ‘excellent screen quality, and RAM storage.
They said: “Got a draw full of old Samsung tablets not worth fixing. I wanted something cheap and cheerful for my hobby of buying off the internet. The Lenovo tablet is ideal to have at hand.”
Fancy free takeaway delivery? Access to Deliveroo Plus is one of a host of advantages of Amazon Prime membership, including exclusive Prime Day discounts and perks on Hello Fresh, music, books and Prime Video. Usually £8.99 a month, you can now get a 30-day free trial to get access to the latest deals.
Another person said: “Bought this for my 89-year-old mum. Nice easy to use the setup was easy too because of backup on her email. Good and a lot cheaper than some lower spec competitors.” Another shopper who bought it for their young son said: “The camera is good it has a long battery life when playing games with my son. Really good and does not take long to change.”
Considering the cheaper £99 price there were, as expected, a few negative shopping reviews. A common complaint is ‘slow’ performance from users who have a lot of apps to run: “Very disappointed with this tablet. Slow to start up, slow to open apps and the main I bought it for ( Prime Video) has a black screen when trying to load. Have done a factory reset and reinstalled apps still the same.” However, considering the small 3GB of RAM this issue can be expected and is a ‘flaw’ associated with ‘you get what you pay for’ but worth flagging to make potential shoppers aware.
The deal comes as Amazon announces its July 2024 Prime Day sale, which will start on the 16 and 17 of this month, running for 48-hours hundreds of products are set to be discounted. And it’s also bought a flurry of early deals including cheap Samsung mobiles, and price drops on viral skincare, including Charlotte Tilbury.
