Selena Gomez is furiously defending her new man Benny Blanco as fans were quick to remind her that he’s ‘shaded’ her in the past
On Thursday, Gomez, 31, confirmed that she’s been dating the music producer, 35, for six months and called him ‘my absolute everything’ in an Instagram post.
Things quickly got heated between her and her fans in the comment section as they accused Benny of ‘not treating [her] well’ and disrespecting her in the past.
They were particularly angered by a resurfaced interview where Benny appeared to call her a ‘cookie-cutter pop artist’ while praising her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber.
‘Like you know, they’re like, ‘this is my new single and here’s my makeup line,’ he told podcast host Zach Sang in 2020.
Though that could easily be a jab at Gomez — who owns the makeup brand Rare Beauty —she appears unbothered.
As one fan slammed her as ‘corny’ for sticking by him despite the shade, Gomez replied: ‘Lol yeah and he’s still better than anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts’

She also told another upset fan, who said Blanco has ‘cursed’ the star, that ‘he has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me.’
The Disney Channel alum concluded it with: ‘The end.’
But Gomez’s replies didn’t stop there.
One fan penned a lengthy comment accusing Gomez of always choosing to date ‘crusty, problematic music men.’
They believe she should go after someone who is ‘a rich, educated, mature handsome man that would treat her with love and respect, share her same values and life goals.’
Gomez said the analysis of herself and Blanco was ‘so off.’
She then fired back at a rude troll who suggested that she ‘can’t get [a man] better’ than the music producer if she wanted to.
‘[LAUGHING EMOJI] I feel bad for you,’ Gomez wrote.
Selena vowed that she would ‘never be with a f**boy ever again’ — an apparent dig at ex Justin — thanks to over a decade of therapy.
Gomez said that if her fans ‘actually care about me’ that they will recognize that she is at her ‘happiest’ right now.
‘If you don’t [care then] feel free to say whatever you want. But I will never allow your words to guide my life. Ever,’ she wrote.
‘I’m done. If you can’t accept me at my happiest then don’t be in [my] life at all.’
Some wondered if Selena and Blanco’s surprise romance was just a publicity stunt.
She insisted: ‘Never trolling.’

Gomez then said she planned to leave Instagram ‘for a while’ — something she’s done several times in recent months — to focus on ‘work.’
She continued: ‘I just stand up for what I believe in I have no shame in doing that.
‘I love my fans more than anything in the world.’
In his virtual sit-down with Zach Sang, Blanco criticized his now-girlfriend in a thinly-veiled insult while declaring that Bieber is ‘not one of those cookie-cutter pop artists.’
He continued: ‘Justin’s like, ‘Yo. I have a pimple and I have anxiety today.’ He’s always been upfront about that stuff.
‘For me, I think he’s really falling into himself as an adult now. It’s brave to put this song out,’ he added.
Benny worked with Justin on his song Lonely, which was released in 2021.
Before going Instagram official with Blanco, she liked and commented ‘Facts’ underneath a post by Popfactions – that said the star ‘seemingly confirms’ that she’s ‘in a relationship.’
She cuddled up to Benny in a snap she posted to her Instagram stories.

In the stories, he holds up a handwritten note he says is from his girlfriend – as he holds it up in the air slightly blocking a woman sleeping in front of him – who seemingly looks like Selena.
The handwritten note said: ‘I am so bloated please do not squeeze/hold onto my waist tonight or I’ll fart a hole through the sheets. Love you,’ with a smiley face, heart and air being released image drawn on it.
He captioned the image of the letter and the woman who appears to be a sleeping Selena with: ‘My gf left this warning for me on my pillow.’
