Is the Samsung Messages app on your Galaxy smartphone or tablet crashing lately as soon as you try to open a conversation in it? Well, you aren’t alone. Many people have been facing this issue for a couple of days now. Fortunately, Samsung is aware of the problem. It says that the culprit behind the issue is the Google Meet app. More importantly, the company has provided a temporary fix for the problem.

Samsung Messages is crashing due to Google Meet

Since Wednesday, many people on Samsung’s Community forum and Reddit have been complaining that when they open Samsung Messages and click on a conversation, the app crashes immediately. Many people tried to clear the app’s cache and data hoping that it would fix the problem. However, that didn’t work.

On Samsung’s Community forum for the United States, a moderator replied to one such complaint saying that Samsung is aware of the issue and that force-stopping the Google Meet app and uninstalling the app’s updates should fix the problem.

Many people tried the solution and it worked for them. So, the culprit behind the issue indeed seems to be the Google Meet app. A recent update to the app must have made it interfere with Samsung Messages and cause it to crash. Here’s how you can force-stop Google Meet and uninstall its updates on your Galaxy device.

The story continues after the video…

How to stop Samsung Messages from crashing?

To force-stop Google Meet, go to Settings » Apps, search for Meet, click on the app, and tap the Force stop button at the bottom of the screen. To uninstall the app’s updates, go to Settings » Apps, search for Meet, click on the app, tap the three-dot icon at the top-right corner of the screen, select Uninstall updates, and then click on OK. Performing these steps should save Samsung Messages from crashing.

We hope that Google quickly rolls out an update to the Google Meet app to stop it from interfering with Samsung Messages.
