The rocker joined his blended family for the lavish ceremony in Dubrovnik, Croatia as his son Liam married partner and mother of his son, Nicole Artukovich
Rod Stewart’s glam blended family descended on Croatia for son Liam’s wedding, including past and present wives, Rachel Hunter and Penny Lancaster.
The singer’s son Liam, 29, married partner Nicole Artukovich at St. Ignatius church in Dubrovnik after getting engaged last year, two months before welcoming son Louis.
Liam’s dad Rod, 79, who has been married three times, attended the lavish ceremony with his wife of 17 years Penny Lancaster, who looked stunning in a lilac satin gown, complete with statement bow and thigh high split. Rod wore a lilac suit and cream waistcoat. Rod and Penny have two children together, Alastair, 18, and Aiden, 13, who both also attended their half brother’s big day.
They watched on alongside Rod’s second wife Rachel Hunter – Liam’s mum. Kiwi model Rachel married Rod at the age of 21, when she was 24 years younger than Rod and the couple went on to have daughter Renee, 31, and Liam. She looked incredible, wearing a teal down and her signature curly hair in a loose bun.
Rod’s first daughter was with the woman who inspired hit track Maggie May, Susannah Boffey. The couple decided to put the baby up for adoption when Rod was just 17, but they went on to form a relationship after his eldest, Sarah, had grown up. He had two other children with ex-wife Alana Stewart, Kimberly, 44, and son Sean, 43, as well as another daughter, Ruby, 36, with former partner Kelly Emberg. He then married Rachel.
Current wife Penny has spoken about her relationship with Rod’s ex and her stepchildren’s mother, Rachel, admitting it was initially frosty between the two after Rod moved on with Penny. At the time, Rod was left devastated when Rachel ended their nine-year marriage in 1999. But speaking on Loose Women in 2017, Penny said that her and Rachel are now friendly with each other and can sit and chat.
She said: “Rachel and I, over the years, we’ve grown up and both have a lot more in common now. We sit and chat and we’ve got over that silly period 10, 15 years ago. It’s about being adults… We’ve moved on, grown up, and from the beginning I knew I wasn’t dating just Rod; I was in a relationship with his family. I saw how all his children were getting on and I wanted my future children to do that as well.”
The couple split in 1999, with the singer revealing in his autobiography Rod: The Autobiography of Rod Stewart, that he hadn’t realised how “oppressive” the “no-nonsense” Rachel had found the luxury lifestyle he had created for their family.
In a bombshell interview with the London Mirror in 2001 Rachel said: “To the outside world, I was mother of two beautiful kids, a wife to Rod and a successful model without any financial worries, but, inside, I was in torment. By the time I was 29, I had spent eight years with someone else’s group of friends… In the nine years we were together, I’d never done anything for myself. If you’d asked me then what I liked or didn’t like, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you. I didn’t even have a hobby.”
