A residential road in Merseyside has been cordoned off after reports that shots were fired at a house. Alvina Lane in Kirkby is currently cordoned off by Merseyside Police with a number of police cars at the scene responding to a “serious” incident.
Eyewitnesses have told the Liverpool ECHO that there has been a shooting. Police have confirmed that no one was injured.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said that it appears a group of men on bikes turned up at a house and shots were fired towards a doorway. However, the force said that the investigation is still in the ‘very early stages’ and enquiries continue.

They said: “We are this evening, Friday 22nd December, investigating following reports shots were fired at a house in Kirkby. We were contacted at 7.50pm following reports damage had been caused to a door of a property in Alvina Lane.
“There are no reports of anyone being injured. An investigation is underway and house-to-house, witness and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.”
Chief Inspector Dave Currie said: “It is very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place and we are speaking to people in the local area to understand what has happened. It appears a group of males on Sur Ron bikes turned up at a house in Alvina Lane and shots were fired towards a doorway.
“Thankfully nobody was injured but clearly incidents such as this have the potential to have serious or even fatal consequences. I would ask anyone who has information about this incident or was in the vicinity of Alvina Lane this evening and witnessed any suspicious behaviour to contact us a matter of urgency.
“Guns have no place on our streets and the public need to tell us what they know so we can take action.”
