Ricky Hatton is looking to the future with his girlfriend Claire Sweeney, hoping their relationship only goes from strength to strength.

The Hitman and the Coronation Street star went public with their romance earlier this year, after meeting on the 2024 series of Dancing on Ice. “I had a good laugh on the ice,” Ricky told the Mirror on Thursday night. “I mean, after the first day, I was scared to death but I always love a challenge.

“I got knocked out in the first round, but I was able to able to meet Claire.” Ricky was joined by his soap star partner at the star-studded Sedulo Foundation Colour Ball gala. “I was always a Billy no mates at these things before Claire,” Ricky joked ahead of the event. “No, it’s great! Me and Claire have been together about five months now and long may it continue.”

Boxing icon Ricky and Claire went public with their surprise relationship in April this year as they appeared loved-up on a date night out. The pair were spotted leaving a pub in Ricky’s beloved Manchester, with Claire donning a classic LBD as she headed out with her new boxer beau.

A source previously told the Mirror: “The chemistry was electric. Ricky went out of the show early on but he contacted her afterwards and let’s say he started wooing her. They’ve been out on several dates. Saturday was just one in a long line of them. They’ve been seeing each other quite a bit. He is completely besotted.”

Ricky was chatting to Mirror at Hilton Deansgate in Manchester, where the iconic boxer was rubbing shoulders with Coronation Street stars and Coleen Rooney at the star-studded gala. The Colour Ball, hosted by Sally Lindsay at The Hilton in Deansgate, featured musical performances from big names such as Emeli Sande, Dane Bowers, and Damage, along with Ben Ofeudu, Angie Brown, and DJ Andres Martinez.

The annual bash, put together by financial advisory firm Sedulo, raised a whopping £125,000 in 2023. With offices in Manchester, Liverpool, London, Leeds and Birmingham, Sedulo’s Foundation aims to support disadvantaged youngsters in the North West.

Since its launch in 2022, the Sedulo Foundation—the charitable branch of Sedulo—has helped over 25,000 young people by supplying school essentials, sanitary products, and Christmas gifts to underprivileged children. Sedulo founder Paul Cheetham-Karcz kicked off the initiative.
