Jude Bellingham tried to throw off Harry Kane before he took his penalty for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid – and now it’s been revealed what he said to his England team-mate.
Bayern and Madrid played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Allianz Arena that saw Vinicius Jr open the scoring before Leroy Sane levelled the scores. Kane ended up putting the German giants ahead from the spot before Vinicius equalised with a penalty of his own in the final ten minutes.
Bellingham attempting to intefere with Kane’s penalty ended up being the biggest talking point of the game as analysts attempted to work out what the 20-year-old was saying to the ex-Tottenham striker to try to throw him off.
After the game, Kane himself admitted he wasn’t sure what Bellingham was trying to say to him – and insisted: ‘Once I’m in that moment I’m just in the zone and trying to block everything out.’
Bellingham’s cheeky words to Kane have been revealed – with the Telegraph reporting that the midfielder told Kane he knew he would send his effort to the left hand side – which the 30-year-old did – but goalkeeper Andriy Lunin still couldn’t keep it out.

The Real Madrid star told his England team-mate that he thought he was going to slot his effort down the left hand side
It did not stop his England colleague from converting to put Bayern 2-1 up on the night
Later on Kane confirmed Bellingham’s comments, saying: ‘I spoke to him after and he said: “I know you’re going to go left of the keeper”. But it was nice for me because I saw the keeper go a little bit early and I put it away. I knew [Bellingham] was there but I didn’t know what he said. But I went left anyway.’
Spanish journalist Guillem Balague initially reported the claims about what Bellingham said and added that ‘Kane had not even heard his comments’.
He also revealed that the pair had spoken in the dressing room after the game, with Kane asking Bellingham: ‘What did you say?’
Bellingham, according to Balague, had then ‘laughed’ at Kane’s comments, after realising Kane had not heard him.

Michael Owen, on punditry for TNT Sports, also gave his verdict on what he thought the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder was whispering in Kane’s ear.
‘I think the referee sees him and Bellingham gives him a little wink as if to say, ‘he’s my mate I can say what I want kind of thing,” the ex-Man United and Liverpool forward said.
‘I can imagine he [Kane] is just shutting everything and anything out at that moment and it certainly didn’t put him off.’
The late strike was a gut punch for Bayern, who had led via Leroy Sane and Kane after falling behind to Vinicius’s first-half goal.
‘It’s a little bit disappointing,’ Kane said. ‘Once we’d gone 2-1 ahead we had two or three good chances especially from set plays, but this is Champions League semi-finals. Real Madrid are one of the best teams in Europe and they can punish you with one or two actions like they did today.
‘Of course we’re disappointed we didn’t come away with the win but it’s all to play for next week we know if we play how we did today next week we can have chances next week we’ve just got to be able to change them.’
It would be Kane’s 43rd goal in 43 appearances across all competitions in the 2023-24 season
At the end of the club season, Bellingham and Kane will join forces for England’s Euros bid
Kane, who now has 43 goals for his debut campaign in Germany, added: ‘It’s been a good season so far. But like I always say it’s about the next one, the next game and the game away to Real Madrid.
‘We’ve just got to find a way to get it done and it is going to be tough obviously but we’ve just got to go there full belief it’s 0-0 and go for the win.
‘Of course the expectation at the start of the year was to win trophies and it hasn’t gone our way in the Bundesliga and the cup but the Champions League is the biggest one of them all. If we can somehow get our hands on that one then of course it would be an amazing season but still a long way to go.’
Bellingham was substituted after 75 minutes following an uncharacteristically quiet performance. Carlo Ancelotti said he was ‘tired’ but will be fit for the return fixture.
