Redlands teen on drugs killed pet dog with flagpole, police say – Orange County Register

A 15-year-old Redlands boy was arrested Thursday on suspicion of beating to death his dog with a stolen flagpole while allegedly under the influence of magic mushrooms or psilocybin, police said.

Frankie the dog died at the scene. The suspect stole the flagpole from a neighbor’s home, Carl Baker, city spokesman, said.

Police received multiple calls at 3:58 a.m. about a naked teen, covered in blood, running in the 1000 block of Ardmore Circle, Baker said.

“The callers told police that they had seen the juvenile beating a dog with a flagpole,” Baker said.

Officers spotted the teen running toward his home and detained him.

“Inside the home they located a small white dog that had been beaten to death and the flagpole,” Baker said.

Police determined the teen was under the influence of a hallucinogenic drug. Officers arrested him on suspicion of animal cruelty, Baker said. He was taken to a hospital where he was evaluated. Police then took him to juvenile hall.
