Rangers fan who endured nightmare Dundee journey earns all-expenses return trip in touch of class

A Rangers fan who embarked on a gruelling overnight journey to Dundee only to arrive at the ground when the game was called off has had his travel and accommodation costs covered for the rearranged game by two of the Ibrox club’s sponsors.

The diehard light blue legion set off on the near-500 mile trip from his home in Wales on Saturday night for the lunchtime kick off on Sunday which fell victim to the weather with parts of the Dens Park pitch unplayable.

Fans sympathised with the punter when he shared his story on social media and the club helped ease the disappointment by arranging for his young son to meet some of the first team stars. The fan then told how he bumped into Rabbi Matondo at the airport on his return journey with the winger also heading south to meet up with the Wales squad after being called up by Rob Page for their crucial Euro 2024 play off against Finland.

But now, with the SPFL announcing that the rescheduled match against Dundee will take place on Wednesday, April 10, the fan posted on social media platform X that some big-hearted Rangers sponsors have stepped in. He wrote: “Massive thanks to @RangersFC partners Rhino Express & Pipeline Energy Solutions who got in touch and have kindly covered our travel & hotel costs after Sunday’s disaster.”

On Sunday the fan posted a photo setting off on a bus in the dead of night along with his young son and the message: “Dundee away starts now. Overnight bus to Scotland aren’t for the weak but neither are title races.” And TWELVE hours later he shared a series of facepalm emojis alongside the tweet from Dundee announcing that there was a pitch inspection for the lunchtime kick off on Tayside.
