The star of Netflix’s anticipated adaptation of David Nicholls’ novel One Day has captured the heart of her own lookalike Dexter.
Spotted out this weekend walking their dog Todd, Ambika Mod and her boyfriend Andy Sellers looked more loved up than ever.
Ambika, 29, stars as Emma Morley in the 20-year love story, opposite White Lotus actor Leo Woodall, 27, who plays Dexter Mayhew.
One Day follows the story of Emma and Dexter after meeting on the final night at Edinburgh University and the next 20 years of their lives on the same date, July 15.
The two graduates become integral to each other’s lives with a series of ‘will they won’t they’ moments and obstacles in the path of a possible romance.
The pair were cast for the roles because of their immediate connection and have since formed a ‘close bond’ and friendship with one another.
Now going public with her once mysterious boyfriend, Ambika and Andy put on a loved-up display as they wrapped their arms around each other whilst on a dog walk in their local park.
The pair are set to star in Disney +’s new five-part thriller series Playdate which is yet to be released but began filming last summer.
Andy Sellers is a young and upcoming actor who has just finished filming for a new drama film, Young Woman and the Sea which stars Stephen Graham, 50, and Lily James, 34.
After shooting to fame from her lead role in One Day, Ambika is set to become a household name after previously staring in BBC drama series This Is Going to Hurt.
The Mail revealed Ambika originally turned down the role of Emma Morley after the star explained she found it was a ‘massive, massive undertaking’ given Emma was previously played by Anne Hathaway, 41, in the 2011 adaptation.
She said: ‘It was definitely originally written as white and previously played by a white actress. I’m really excited to bring something new to the role, I hope that young women who don’t see themselves on screen that often see that it’s possible.
Ambika admitted she wouldn’t have landed the role 10 years ago due to her skin colour, saying: ‘I’m very different to Anne Hathaway, so I was never worried about that. Just the fact that I’m not white and I’m getting to play Emma.
‘I don’t think that would have happened ten years ago. That in itself is a way to modernise the story.’
After equally such huge success, Leo Woodall is set to star as the leading role in a new Apple TV series, Prime Target, from New Regency and Scott Free, with executive producer Ridley Scott.
Leo is currently dating his White Lotus co-star Meghann Fahy, 33.
After the final series began filming in Sicily in early 2022, it’s thought the couple have been together since then.
In the show Meghann plays a wealthy stay-at-home wife Daphne Sullivan, meanwhile Leo plays Jack, the supposed nephew of a rich expat, Quentin, who is played by Tom Hollander, 56.
The pair didn’t star in any scenes together in the hit show however, it didn’t stop their romance from progressing.
Romance rumours were first fuelled in September 2022 when the actor shared a carousel of Polaroid photos from the set of The White Lotus.
There were plenty of PDA-fuelled pics of the pair before Meghann appeared in the comment section, writing, ‘I love you! I love these! I love you!’ and Leo replied: ‘Love you right back.’
Last February the couple walked their first red carpet together for the 29th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The couple were then photographed at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards ceremony in July 2023 in London, where Meghann was asked if she’s had any romance outside of The White Lotus.
‘I don’t know anything. Never heard of it. Never seen it. What is that show?’ she jokingly responded.
Then in November the pair were photographed kissing on the streets of New York City.
And this month they were both snapped attending Jimmy Kimmel Live in Los Angeles, when Meghann appeared to cheer Leo on during his appearance on the show to discuss One Day.
