NVIDIA launches RTX 4080 SUPER, faster memory & lower price tag
Founder’s Edition and custom models now available.
Today, NVIDIA is launching its latest GPU for January, the RTX 4080 SUPER. It offers small improvements in specifications, but it is the only card in the SUPER lineup to receive a significant price adjustment.
The RTX 4080 SUPER is powered by the AD103-400 GPU, featuring 10240 CUDA cores, a modest 5% increase compared to the original RTX 4080. The memory capacity and technology remain unchanged, maintaining a 16GB GDDR6X type. However, the memory speed has been boosted from 22.4 to 23 Gbps, marking the fastest GDDR6X memory found in any desktop GPU on the market. It’s worth noting through that this card is limited to a 256-bit memory bus, resulting in a bandwidth that falls short of the RTX 4090.

NVIDIA has opted to keep the power specifications unchanged for the RTX 4080 SUPER, maintaining the default 320W. Nevertheless, several models on the market come with higher TDP straight out of the box, with some even supporting 400W and beyond through overclocking.
In contrast to the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER released last week, the RTX 4080 SUPER will feature a Founder’s Edition, NVIDIA’s own custom design. This particular card is typically available through official NVIDIA stores or select partners, with availability varying by region.
The standout feature of the RTX 4080 SUPER isn’t its specifications but rather its pricing. NVIDIA has slashed the MSRP to $999 for the new SUPER version of the RTX 4080. It is also discontinuing the sale and distribution of the original model through partners.
For those contemplating the purchase of this card, a review roundup with tests on various custom models is available from our media friends. Those who were able to buy the card already, make sure to update your driver as well.
