Myleene Klass has shared an emotional tribute to her ‘blended’ family as she reflected on her journey with her children and fiancé Simon Motson.
The former Hear’Say singer, 45, took to her Instagram on Friday with a heartwarming clip featuring sweet highlights from the family.
Myleene accompanied her tribute post with a lengthy caption, detailing how grateful she was to have embraced a ‘blended, modern’ family with her three kids and Simon, 48.
The presenter is mum to daughters Ava, 16, and Hero, 12, with ex-husband Graham Quinn – and shares son Apollo, four, with Ley Line Studio owner Simon, who she started dating eight years ago.
The star penned alongside her post: ‘I keep seeing this trend. Anything that normalises and embraces modern, blended families really goes deep with me. Especially as it’s something I never had a blueprint for and was so scared to embark upon.
‘My girls and I have been a solid unit, ‘The Klass girls’ since forever. Anyone who knows me will tell you that the sun rises and sets with my daughters. They are my everything.’
She continued: ‘When Sim walked into our lives with his backgammon board, he brought so much kindness, love and fun. He stepped in and stepped up. And now, eight years down the line, we have our baby boy.
‘Who could have ever imagined? It doesn’t matter where you’ve come from, only that you show up for eachother.’
The presenter continued by gushing over her beloved partner: ‘He never misses anything be it school plays, trips, discos, concerts, parents evening, sports day or just helping out with art homework that develops into an installation, Michelin starred dinners, doctors appts, learning their songs, picking them up from their friends’ at all hours, teaching them to wake board, artisan lunch boxes, endless cups of tea through exam period, negotiating bed times, drying away the tears, lifting with the laughter.
‘Every day mayhem, madness, family life. Showing them what love looks like in a relationship, never giving up, being the embarrassing dad who happens to cheer the loudest for them.’
‘No family, regardless is perfect, and blended families really do experience a whole gambit of emotions, trials, experiences and challenges. But at the heart of it is love, respect and the hope and wish to just simply be together, to belong.
‘Jigsaw, patchwork, step, blended, mixed. Everyone has their label. We are just family,’ she finished.
The touching clip featured many sweet moments from funny pictures, to holiday and birthday highlights.
Half of the video displayed mostly bits with her two daughters, captioning: ‘I’ve got two girls!’
The second part introduced Simon, adding a slew of the heartwarming moments between him, Apollo and Myleene’s daughters – penning: ‘I know, let’s go!’
Earlier last month, the former singer opened up about modern families, divorce and children during an appearance on Loose Women – where she revealed that she made her fiancé sign a contract when he moved into her home.
Myleene also explained how she has put her fortune in a trust to protect her children from any potential future partners seeing them as a ‘payday.’
Speaking about whether or not marriage is for life, Myleene – whose ex-husband Graham left her in 2012 after a year of marriage – stated: ‘I’m divorced. I’ve got a blended family.
‘We [she and Simon] have been together 8 years now. He’s got children also. There are children growing up seeing if marriage is working.’
The I’m A Celeb star admitted that after a divorce it can be extremely difficult, explaining: ‘What you’re left with. You can potentially lose your house, half your earnings. You’re in a no mans land not knowing what your right are.
‘I’ve told my children they will never be in that situation. We have very open conversations.’
Discussing her current relationship, Myleene continued: ‘I’m engaged. When my partner Sim, very lovely man, when he came to live in our family home he signed a contract.
Not a prenup because we’re not married, but like a tenancy agreement I suppose, or a co-habitation agreement. He was so sweet, he said ”I don’t need that with you, it’s fine I’ll just sign anything”.
‘I said to him ”no please go and read this. Go and look at the small print says then I know you know what you’re walking into” and if you still walk in with that…
‘It’s not about the romance, you can still have romance. It gives you true clarity. I know what you earn, I know what you have, I know what you’re bringing.
‘I told my daughters, ”if you get with someone you can’t touch mamma’s money it’s in a trust”, which is true. So no one can look as them think there’s a pay day.
‘This isn’t about the women I also don’t want my son to go into a situation where he could be taken advantage of either.’
Myleene and her ex-husband Graham, 49, first began dating in 2001 when he was a bodyguard for her manufactured pop band Hear’Say.
They split up when it was revealed that Graham had jumped bail after being arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin in Ireland, but were later reunited and got engaged in 2005.
The couple finally married in an intimate ceremony in 2011 but split for good just six months later when Graham dumped his wife on her 34th birthday. They divorced a year later.
