Neighbours were in shock this weekend as police launched a murder investigation into the death of an elderly woman in her Kirkby home.
Merseyside Police were called to Denver Road in Westvale, Kirkby, at around 11.30pm on Friday after receiving reports a woman in her 70s had been found unresponsive inside a property.

“We were all in bed [at the time it happened]. We didn’t find out until the next day. We went to my daughter’s about 10am. We didn’t think it was anything as bad as it was. I’ve been here over 30 years. We watched the children grow up together.”
