The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning lasting 15 hours as heavy rain is set to hit the UK.
Dreams of a White Christmas have been shattered for most of the UK, with very mild temperatures continuing after the country’s warmest December 24 for over 20 years.
However, in a new weather warning, the Met Office warned of heavy rain bringing the potential for disruption to travel and a risk of flooding.

The Met Office said: “Outbreaks of heavy rain will move northeastwards across England and Wales during Wednesday. Across the warning area, 20 to 30mm of rain is expected to accumulate widely.
“Strong winds will likely exacerbate any impacts from the rain. Snow is also likely for a time across the higher Pennines, although this will turn to rain later.”
The weather warning is in place from 12am to 3pm on Wednesday, December 27. It covers parts of Halton, Knowsley, St Helens and Sefton.

- Bus and train services are probably affected by journey times taking longer
- Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
- Some interruption to power supplies and other services likely
