ITV Racing returns on Wednesday from York and Ffos Las starting with a handicap over 1m 4f. This looks wide open. CHILLINGHAM stays well and must have an each-way chance for Ed Bethell. My selection is down 1lb since a third at Ripon last time and I felt that was a decent enough effort behind Sea King. My selection travelled well that day after a comeback run at Kempton put the fitness straight and off a stronger gallop here he can do better. An each-way chance under Callum Rodriguez.

ITV show one from Ffos Las, this handicap hurdle over 2m. DOUBLE CLICK might prefer softer ground but the rain might come and he is consistent and in decent form for Jamie Snowden which suggests every chance of another win under Gavin Sheehan who has been in fine shape this week. The second at Chepstow last time suggested there is still a bit more to come.

MAKANAH goes on any ground and should be ready for this after a fourth in a decent field at Newmarket last month. That was over 5f behind Tees Spirit and it’s easy to argue he is better at that trip. However, he was fifth in this race last year off a mark of 100 and was second in 2022 off 96 so he really should have an each-way chance now off 94, even though he’s kicking on a bit at the age of nine. Julie Camacho trains and Paul Mulrennan is on top.

The weather is key for MONTASSIB but if the rain comes as forecast, he must have every chance for William Haggas and Cieren Fallon. The selection returned with a bang at Doncaster in March when the ground was soft and he has a telling turn of foot in those conditions. There is rain forecast and if it eases significantly this horse will love it.

Hard not to be all over FRIENDLY SOUL for John & Thady Gosden and the excellent Kieran Shoemark. The pair looked class at Newmarket in the Pretty Polly Stakes and she’ll be very hard to catch if in the same form. Of course, the worry is that this comes just 10 days later, but provided it’s not too much too soon this could put her spot on for the French Oaks.

MORTLAKE will be a big price and might prefer a mile but I suspect there is more to come from him this season. Having won at Leicester last term, my hope went to Sandown but failed to come up to scratch in the Group 3 Solario behind Aablan. He kept on behind the leaders that day and it’s not impossible a mark of 96 is lenient. I’ll chance a few quid each-way against some race-fit rivals.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaas. You hear me, Paddy?
