The Joker is coming to MultiVersus, and he’s bringing longtime voice actor Mark Hamill with him.
Warner Bros. and Player First Games confirmed the news today, revealing that the character will join its already stacked platform fighter’s roster when it launches later this month. The Joker is one of the most recognizable characters in pop culture, so his inclusion in any crossover project is sure to turn heads.
The character’s debut trailer sees Batman marching forward into battle as Bugs Bunny, Shaggy, and Arya Stark fall around him. The Joker will use a crowbar, cards, and explosives when taking down other Warner Bros. icons, and you can see his reveal trailer below.
Hamill, who originally voiced the Clown Prince of Crime in Batman: The Animated Series, has appeared in numerous spinoffs and is considered by many to be one of the best portrayals of the Joker. What makes his addition in MultiVersus so special is that Batman, who was confirmed as a playable character long ago, is voiced by the late Kevin Conroy.
Batman fans likely already know that Conroy and Hamill’s performances in The Animated Series have remained iconic since its debut in the ‘90s. The duo has reprised their roles in various movies, shows, and games through the years, with perhaps the most notable example of their work in games being the Batman: Arkham series.
After Conroy passed away in 2022, Hamill announced that he would retire from playing the Joker, saying, “Without Batman, there is no punchline.” MultiVersus seems to have presented him an opportunity to star alongside Conroy one more time, giving fans what may be the last video game the two ever share.

However, there is still at least one more project on the way that includes Conroy as Batman and Hamill as Joker. As previously reported by IGN, DC’s animated movie Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths – Part 3 will feature both actors when it releases July 16, 2024.
Multiversus launches for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S for free on May 28. It will include full cross-play and cross-platform support. While you wait for more information on the Joker’s inclusion in the all-star Warner Bros. fighting game, you can check out a fresh batch of screenshots below.
