A second man, 39, who was also gunned down, was in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

In 2022, Webley was cleared of two attempted murder after being accused of trying to ram a car off the road in Edinburgh.

In 2006, he was convicted of being the gunman in a gangland-style ambush on a Kawasaki motorbike which saw him jailed for 11 years.

The victim was shot in the back in the Granton area of Edinburgh in January the previous year near his home.

He was sprayed with five bullets from a handgun by Webley, who was wearing a balaclava, but only one round hit him.

At the time, police told how teenage Webley had been involved in organised crime feuds and wanted to exert his control over the local area.

Before his death, Webley had been due to stand trial accused of battering his ex-partner while watching a kid’s football match. He also faced trial over an alleged breach of the peace and driving offences last year.

Webley’s ex-partner, lottery winner Jane Park, previously paid tribute to the slain gangster.

Jane was seeing Webley recently and is understood to have ended their romance around a month ago.

In a tribute on Instagram, Jane posted a video of her and Webley enjoying a drink and smiling for the camera.

The song I’ll Be Missing You by P. Diddy plays over the clip.

Jane added the message, “Sleep tight my handsome,” along with a heart emoji.

Jane, from Edinburgh, posted a previous tribute to her “handsome” former flame on social media, claiming she spoke to Webley hours before he died.
