A manhunt is underway after a group of men were ‘targeted’ in a terrifying shooting in Ardwick on Thursday afternoon (December 21).
Police were called to Stockport Road (A6), near to the McDonald’s and O2 Apollo at around 3pm to reports of gunshots being fired.
It was reported that a group of males, whose ages are not known, were targeted by another man who then fled the scene in a car. There were no reports of injuries but another car was damaged during the incident.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police cordoned off the large area, closing the main road in both directions amid investigations with detectives also at the scene for a number of hours on Thursday night.
No arrests have been made but a number of lines of enquiry are being followed by police, with a manhunt still underway to find the suspect responsible for the attack.
Police believe the attack was ‘targeted’ and that there is no risk to the public or wider community. The force said it is ‘putting significant resources’ into its investigation and that there will be an increased police presence in the area over the next few days.
Chief Inspector Chris Boyd, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “This is clearly an extremely concerning incident, and I want to reassure the local community that a number of extensive enquiries are ongoing as we seek those responsible.
“We are putting in significant resources to thoroughly investigate this incident and those who live nearby can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days.
“We are currently treating this as a targeted attack with no wider threat to the public. However, if anyone has any concerns, I would urge them to speak to an officer in their local area, who will be able to assist with any queries.
“We have zero tolerance for firearms and they have no place on our streets. We will work hard to bring those involved with this incident to justice.”
Anyone with any information, or who holds dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage is asked to get in touch and report it to Greater Manchester Police as investigations continue.
You can do so by calling 101 or 0161 856 4305, quoting log number 2116 of 21/12/23. You can also report information at gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity, Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
