Armed police descended on a Wirral street this evening as multiple roads were closed.
A section of Woodchurch Road was closed by officers, with cordons were also in place in the nearby Bennetts Hill and Heathfield Road as a huge number of police vehicles arrived in the area, close to the Royal Hotel pub.
Police at the scene confirmed they were responding to “an incident in a house”. Multiple police cars and vans attended the scene, with one local shopkeeper reporting serious activity in the area from 1pm.

One woman, who lives on Woodchurch Street, said residents had been evacuated from their homes after it was suspected a man had armed himself with a knife. Armed police were seen leading a cuffed man away from a house and into a waiting ambulance. He was then taken into a police van.
Police began to remove the road closures at around 5.45pm, with the scene completely cleared by 6pm.
Merseyside police said officers had been called to a concern for safety in the area, but further details have not yet been announced.
