A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances and a forensic examination of the scene has been completed. Officers have conducted enquiries at neighbouring businesses and are continuing to explore CCTV opportunities in the area.”
Detective Inspector Jemma Berry said: “This was a nasty incident which began in a café on Rocky Lane and continued outside onto Scorton Street. Such violence has no place on the streets of Tuebrook or anywhere in Merseyside.
“While the incident occurred at 3.45am, and the street would have been quiet, we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam capturing any part of it.
