Luke Littler reveals shock RETIREMENT plan as 17-year-old claims he’s already been ‘playing a long time’ – just months after bursting onto the scene in fairytale World Darts Championship run

  • Luke Littler has revealed a surprise retirement plan after bursting onto the scene
  • He has made £252,000 in prize money in 2024 and is penning commercial deals
  • His introduction to the Darts Premier League has been fairly successful so far

Luke Littler has revealed he could retire from darts at a young age in what would be music to the ears of his rivals.

Littler, 17, only entered the public eye recently with his dash to the World Darts Championship final, where he lost to world number one Luke Humphries.

However, including his youth experience, he claims he has already ‘been playing for a long time’ and could call it quits decades before you’d expect.

If he played until the age of Phil Taylor, 63, he would be chucking darts at a board until 2065.

Luke Littler has revealed the shock age at which he might retire – and it could come as some relief to his rivals!

But Littler could down tools as early as the age of 27, he told The Times.

‘I’ve been playing a long time in the juniors, in the old British Darts Federation,’ he said.

‘I might just do ten or fifteen years and retire, if I’ve had enough.’

Since reaching the PDC World Darts Championship final – which was watched by a record 4.8million viewers – it has been a whirlwind 2024.

He has been inducted into the eight-man Darts Premier League, where he has had good success.

Currently he sits fourth in the table, which Michael van Gerwen leads after winning three of the four nights so far.

He has met some of his Manchester United heroes, including Sir Alex Ferguson, Harry Maguire, and Erik ten Hag.

There was even a contest against Maguire and Christian Eriksen at Carrington, where he threw a 180 at the first attempt to beat their nine-dart scores.

At the start of this month, he was announced as a representative with clothes retailer BoohooMAN, quilling a lucrative modelling deal.

This year already, he has won £252,000 in prize money.
