Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Anthony Gordon and Caoimhin Kelleher ‘swap’, Leny Yoro twist

Liverpool transfer news burst into life yesterday as it emerged that there could be a chance to land Anthony Gordon. And that came with a ticking clock attached, as Newcastle seeks to do enough business before close of play today to escape its Profitability and Sustainability Regulations hole.

An initial proposal involved Jarell Quansah going the other way, which Liverpool rejected out of hand. But the Reds could use other makeweights in the deal, with Caoimhin Kelleher plus cash one option reportedly explored.

The Irish stopper is believed to be keen on a move anyway this summer. He excelled last season in the absence of Alisson, and is now ready to be a number one at Premier League level.

No doubt this complicated Gordon deal with all its moving parts will be the main focus of the day, given the looming deadline. But other things are happening too, with a twist in the Leny Yoro saga.

Kylian Mbappe’s arrival at the Bernabeu could limit the Brazilian’s chances, with Rodrygo said to be fearing that the French star will drift onto the wings.

Liverpool has been linked with a move for the 23-year-old, although he would almost certainly cost a big fee for the Reds.

Gordon ‘open’ to Liverpool move

Anthony Gordon is open to joining Liverpool, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Reds could reportedly revive talks for the Newcastle star, although their chances of landing him now look much slimmer, with the Magpies closing in on deals to sell Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively.

Kimmich though is claimed to be ready to turn down any proposals from the Reds or Arsenal in favor of a move to City.

Anthony Gordon hopes over?

In case you missed it last night, Liverpool’s chances of signing Anthony Gordon might now be over after Newcastle managed to offload two of its players.

Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson both made way, to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively, easing Newcastle’s PSR worries somewhat.

Real Madrid won’t budge on Yoro price

Real Madrid has decided it will not pay more than its $43m (£34m/€40m) valuation of Leny Yoro. That’s per Spanish outlet Marca.

Los Blancos are ready to walk away from a deal if it proves necessary. Riccardo Calafiori is being lined up as Real Madrid’s “Plan B.”

Gordon and Kelleher “swap”

Liverpool is set to test Newcastle United’s resolve with a bid of $63m (£50m/€59m) plus Caoimhin Kelleher for Anthony Gordon. That’s per TeamTalk.
