Liverpool are yet to make signing under Arne Slot ahead of their opening Premier League match of the 2024/25 season against Ipswich Town on Saturday
Liverpool are just a day away from kicking off their Premier League campaign at newly promoted Ipswich Town. The Reds will be entering their first season with a new manager in almost a decade as Arne Slot succeeds Jurgen Klopp.
It’s been a quiet summer at Anfield with no first-team signings made, although Liverpool came close to signing Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi before he rejected a move at the last minute. It means that new Reds boss Slot has the same team built under Klopp.
However, new signings could be being worked on with Portuguese outlet O Jogo claiming that the Reds will present a formal proposal to sign Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio. It is said that the centre-back has a £51million release clause in his current contract but Sporting are ready to sell him for a lower price and accept around £38m for the player who was not seen as a priority for Liverpool earlier in the summer.

Liverpool are in need of reinforcements in defence after the departure of Joel Matip. Ibrahima Konate’s recent injury record may also be another factor which convinces the club to sign a new centre-back before the summer window closes on Friday, August 30.

Elsewhere, Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has claimed that former Reds’ transfer target Manu Kone is being made available by Borussia Monchengladbach. He claims that the Bundesliga club are expecting offers of €25m (£21m).
“In his very open and positive talks with @borussia Manu #Koné has made clear that it’s important for him to play internationally this season,” Plettenberg said on X, formerly known as Twitter. “23 y/o central midfielder wants to join a very ambitious club that, in the best case, plays in the Champions League this season.
“Gladbach and Koné, top relation. M‘gladbach only waiting for suitable offers. #BMG expecting €25m with bonus payments. Contract valid until 2026.”
