Liverpool city centre pub to open all hours for one night only

A Liverpool city centre pub will be open all hours tonight.

The Vernon Arms on Dale Street in Liverpool city centre will remain open through the night tonight (July 4) and into tomorrow (July 5) for those who want to watch the general election coverage. The country is going to the polls today and voting closes at 10pm, before results come in from across the country during the early hours.

The pub will be showing the coverage on its screens and will not close at its usual time of midnight.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the pub wrote: “Election alert! For one night only the Vernon Arms is open ALL NIGHT. Watch the election results pour in while we pour you a pint.

“See the looks of shock as huge majorities & £91,000 salaries are swept away. Free entry on Thursday night/Friday morning. Most cask ales £4 pint.”

The pub is run by owner Conor Devlin, who took The Vernon over at the start of the year. Speaking to the ECHO last month, he said: “This is a real traditional pub. It’s exceptional to have something like this in the centre of town because it’s the last of a dying breed, having these sort of pubs in town.
