A number of bus routes are disrupted for passenger’s “safety” following antisocial behaviour on Mischief Night.
At least 11 bus services are disrupted this evening as Stagecoach and Arriva are both reporting antisocial behaviour in a number of areas in Liverpool and Wirral. It comes on the night before Halloween, also known as Mischief Night.
Thought to only be a continuing tradition in the North West, Mischief Night was recorded as early as the 1830s. Back then pranks such as swapping shopkeepers’ signs or throwing cabbage stalks at neighbours were the norm, but things have become a lot more sinister since then.

One update read: “Due to a gathering of youths who have damaged bus stops on Utting Avenue East, our 14 and 14A will not be servicing the bus stops for your safety near St Teresa’s Church, that’s for journey’s in either direction. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.”
