Live: Severe delays on Elizabeth Line and Great Western Railway after casualty on track

An emergency services incident has caused delays and cancellations to trains and the Elizabeth Line this afternoon (January 20). The nature of the incident is not yet known but National Rail say that disruption is expected until 9pm this evening.

Transport for London said: “No service between Reading and Maidenhead while emergency services deal with a casualty on the track. NO SERVICE between Paddington and Abbey Wood due to planned engineering work. GOOD SERVICE on the rest of the line.”




Routes affected include:

  • Elizabeth line between Abbey Wood / London Paddington and Reading
  • Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Didcot Parkway / Slough / Reading

National Rail said: “Emergency services dealing with an incident between London Paddington and Reading means trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 90 minutes or cancelled. Disruption is expected until 9pm.”
