LIVE: New Year celebrations in Manchester – Thousands welcome in 2024 as fireworks make big return

Thousands of revellers have hit the streets of Manchester to welcome in 2024 tonight with the first fireworks display since before the pandemic lighting up the sky over the city.

Despite the downpours, the city centre has burst into joyous scenes with friends and families clinking their glasses and celebrating the end of the year in style.




From Deansgate, to the Gay Village and the Northern Quarter, bars, clubs and restaurants across Manchester have transformed into cheerful celebrations – and we are with you bringing you the latest.

The city has just welcomed its first firework celebration since the pandemic with a spectacular end-of-the-year display that lit up the sky over Castlefield Bowl when the clock struck 12am.
